I really wish I had thought to take a “before” picture to show you so you can see the transformation. I have had this white wicker rocking chair sitting up in my parents’ room for many years because I knew I would want it some day but until now had no place to put it. Now for the first time ever I have my own apartment and I actually have room for it, so my mom (who also has a post about this project on her blog) and I decided to fix it up a bit to be more my style.
The first thing we did was take it out in the yard and spray-paint it cherry red because honestly, if I had my way, all my stuff would be that color. Then, my mom took apart the old cushion cover (which was white with light pink flowers and piping) and used it as a pattern to make a new cushion cover out of this kind of celestial fabric full of swirls and stars, which I picked out. Of course, the fabric is also red.

Again, this would probably be more impressive if I had a picture of what it looked like before. It was already a nice chair but a new coat of paint and new cushion cover totally changed the look of it. So if you have any furniture that is in good shape but either isn’t exactly your style or just needs to be revitalized, a new paint job is a great way to accomplish that.

We totally think alike. That is so scary, but cool! I have to admit that now that the chair is red I might want it back in my bedroom! Just kidding. It looks great in your new place. I’m glad you finally get a chance to enjoy it.

Thanks, Mom! And don’t worry, if I ever don’t have room for it again, it will probably end up right back in your room. I’m just teasing you but it’s kind of true. Of course, you are welcome to sit in it whenever you come to visit.
